The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of protection of reproductive health of citizens.
The legislation on protection of reproductive health of citizens consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about protection of reproductive health of citizens then are applied rules of the international treaty.
Reproductive health of citizens is the condition of physical, intellectual and social wellbeing of the person connected with its reproductive system, its functions, vital processes determining its capability to the child's birth.
Protection of reproductive health of citizens provides:
receipt of the reliable and complete information about reproductive health of citizens;
actions, procedures and services during pregnancy, childbirth and after the delivery, the pregnancies providing incubation and the child's birth without complications and violations;
prevention and treatment of diseases of reproductive system;
prevention and treatment of diseases, sexually transmitted;
the safe abortion promoting prevention of possible complications and effects of malfunction of reproductive system;
receipt of information on methods of contraception and access to them.
The basic principles of this Law are:
humanity in case of the solution of reproductive problems;
equality of men and women in the field of protection of reproductive health;
