This Law determines legal and organizational basis of activities of the Central commission on elections and referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan.
1. The central commission on elections and referenda of the Republic of Tajikistan (further - the Commission) is state body of the Republic of Tajikistan, will organize and holds election of the president of the Republic of Tajikistan, members of Majlisi milli, deputies of Majlisi namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan and national referendum, directs system of the electoral commissions, and also exercises supervision of the organization and elections of deputies to local Majlises of People's Deputies and Dzhamoata, provides observance and uniform execution of the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan on elections and referenda.
2. The commission is collegiate organ and when implementing the powers is independent and is not accountable to public authorities, self-government institutions of settlements and villages and officials.
3. The commission is legal entity, has settlement and other accounts, seal and forms with the name and with the image of the State Emblem of the Republic of Tajikistan.
