The statement of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of state members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization following the results of the Summit of the UN-2005
of December 6, 2005
State members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization confirm commitment to ideals of the United Nations which is approved for six decades as the comprehensive universal international organization.
The constructive proposals which were heard at the summit of the UN in September of this year create positive basis for continuation of process of reforming of the Organization on the basis of the broadest consent and accounting of interests of state members.
We consider that reforming of structures and mechanisms of the UN shall lead to increase in efficiency of its work, first of all on such priority directions as peacemaking and maintenance of the global world, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, fight against terrorism, xenophobia and religious extremism, drug trafficking, psychotropic substances and their precursors, organized crime, illegal migration and human trafficking.
The summit confirmed that unity of all world community in case of the active coordinating role of the UN shall be contrasted with the international terrorism. The important step is taken with acceptance at meeting of the top-level UN Security Council of the resolution 1624, outlawing not only terrorists, their helpers and financiers, but also instigators of terrorist attacks. We attach great value to the fastest entry into force of the International convention about suppression of acts of nuclear terrorism, to completion of approval of the Comprehensive convention on the international terrorism and we call state members of the UN which did not make it yet, to sign the international legal tools accepted within the UN, regulating questions of fight against terrorism. We welcome efforts of Counter-terrorism committee of the UN Security Council on adjustment of system of assistance in fight against terrorism, and also we declare determination of our states to interact and cooperate in every possible way with Committee in the global fight against terrorism coordinated by it.
