About quality of drinking water
The Parliament adopts this organic law.
This law partially shifts:
– Items 7-9 of Article 2, Item (b) of part (1) and part (2) Articles 4, part (1) Articles 11, Item (a) of part (1) and part (3) Articles 12, Articles 15 and 16 of the Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and Council of December 16, 2020 about quality of the water intended for the use by people (in the new edition), the text relating to EEP published in the Official magazine of the European Union by L 435 of December 23, 2020, CELEX: 32020L2184;
– Items 2-4 of Article 2 and appendix I-III of the Directive 2013/51/Evratom of Council of October 22, 2013 about establishment of requirements for public health care for radioactive materials in the water intended for the use by people, published in the Official magazine of the European Union by L 296 of November 7, 2013, CELEX: 32013L0051.
(1) This law establishes the legal basis of quality of drinking water, and also measure from responsible bodies for ensuring compliance of quality of drinking water.
(2) the Purpose of this law is long-term ensuring compliance of quality of drinking water by creation of the flexible and transparent legal basis and support of proper risk management.
(3) the Task of this law is protection of human health against negative effects of infection of drinking water by ensuring its safety and purity.
For the purposes of this law the used concepts mean the following:
drinking water – the water intended for the use by people namely:
a) any kind of natural water or water after the processing used for drink, cooking, personal hygiene, hygiene of housing or household objects irrespective of its origin and from whether it is delivered by means of distribution network, from source or the reservoir or is distributed in bottles or in other reservoirs;
