About introduction of amendments to article 289 of the Criminal code of Ukraine concerning counteraction to illegal occupancy by the vehicle

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides:

1. Bring in article 289 of the Criminal code of Ukraine (Sheets of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 2001, Art. No. 25-26, 131) such changes:

Paragraph two of part one to state 1) in the following edition:

"it is punished by restriction of freedom for a period of three up to five years or imprisonment for the same term";

In paragraph one of part two of the word "or if they did considerable material harm" shall be replaced with words 2) "or with use of electronic devices for intervention in operation of technical means of protection or if subject of illegal occupancy is the vehicle which cost constitutes from hundred to two hundred fifty free minima income of citizens";

3) in part three:

in paragraph one of the word "they caused extensive material damage" shall be replaced with words "subject of illegal occupancy is the vehicle which cost in two hundred fifty and more times exceeds free minimum of the income of citizens";

state paragraph two in the following edition:

"are punished by imprisonment for a period of eight up to twelve years with confiscation of property or without that";

4) in word part four "this Article (except as specified illegal occupancy by the vehicle using violence to the victim or threat of application of such violence), but" shall be replaced with words "part one of this Article, and";

5) in the note:

to add Item 2 after figures "262" with figures "290";

exclude Item 3.

2. This Law becomes effective from the date of, its publication following behind day.
