This Law determines the legal basis of the organization, activities and management of National academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, establishes activities, tasks, powers and its financial provision.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
1) members of National academy of Sciences are full members (academicians), corresponding members, honorary and foreign members of National academy of Sciences Tajikistan (further - National academy of Sciences), the elite in accordance with the established procedure on general meeting of National academy of Sciences;
2) the full member (academician) of National academy of Sciences scientific academic rank which is given to the member - the correspondent of National academy of Sciences for contribution to development of domestic science by important scientific works and preparation of highly qualified scientific personnel;
3) the corresponding member of National academy of Sciences - scientific academic rank which is given to the scientist having doctor's degree or the doctor хабилитат for contribution to development of domestic science by important scientific works and preparation of highly qualified scientific personnel;
4) the foreign member of National academy of Sciences - scientific academic rank which is given to scientific and outstanding foreign persons of science and culture for contribution to world science and culture, and also for assistance in training of scientists and specialists in the Republic of Tajikistan;
