About use of renewable energy resources in production of electricity

This Law according to Item 11 of part I of article 94 of the Constitution of the Azerbaijan Republic determines legal, economic and organizational basis of use of renewable energy resources in production of electricity, and also support mechanisms for assistance to production of electricity from renewable energy resources, and governs the relations arising in this area.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

1.1. The basic concepts used in this Law designate the following:

1.1.1. renewable energy resources - power sources which constantly are present or regularly arise in the environment (hydropower, wind energy, solar energy, geothermal power, energy of biomass, wave energy in the seas and oceans, tidal energy, energy of water flows, etc.);

1.1.2. the sphere of use of renewable energy resources in production of electricity - the field of activity covering production, storage, transfer, distributions, delivery and electric power consumption from renewable energy resources;

1.1.3. the bidding - the procedure which is carried out in the form of auction or tender for the choice of the producer which will make the electric power the capacity specified the territories of renewable energy resources and determinations of the guaranteed rate which will be applied in the purchase agreement of the electric power;

1.1.4. power plant - complex of the interconnected equipment and the related structures necessary for production of electricity from renewable energy resources;

1.1.5. the producer - person performing production of electricity at power plant;

1.1.6. the territory of renewable energy resources - the parcel of land (water object) determined by the body (structure) determined by relevant organ of the executive authority which has the potential of renewable energy resources and is suitable for production of electricity;
