This Federal Law for the purpose of perpetuating of memory of the dead in case of protection of the Fatherland establishes the legal basis of assignment to the cities of the Russian Federation of honorary title of the Russian Federation "The city of military glory" (further - rank "City of Military Glory").
1. The rank "City of Military Glory" is given to the cities of the Russian Federation in the territory of which or in close proximity to which during fierce battles defenders of the Fatherland showed courage, firmness and mass heroism, including to the cities of the Russian Federation which gives the rank "Hero town".
2. Conditions and procedure for assignment to the cities of the Russian Federation of rank "City of Military Glory" are determined by the President of the Russian Federation.
