The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of official statistics.
Operation of this Law extends to producers and users of official statistics, respondents and suppliers of administrative data, and also to the relations arising between them, connected with production, distribution and coordination of official statistics.
Operation of this Law does not extend to the statistics which is not considered as official.
The legislation on official statistics consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about official statistics then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
the identifier - the sequence of symbols allowing to identify statistical unit on the basis of its name, the geographic location or other specific properties;
individual data - the primary data characterizing statistical unit which allow to identify it directly or indirectly;
administrative data - the data created by bodies of the public and economic board, and also executive bodies on places in connection with implementation of the powers;
metadata - the data describing in the standardized type statistical data and processes by provision to users of information on sources, methodologies, determinations, classifications and quality of data;
national statistical system - set of bodies of the state statistics and other producers of official statistics which jointly make and extend official statistics;
