About enhancement of system of the treatment of radioactive waste

(Extraction)

For the purpose of enhancement of system of public administration in the field of the treatment of radioactive waste and ensuring radiation safety:

1. Determine that:

1.1. The Ministry of Emergency Situations is state body in the field of the treatment of radioactive waste which performs:

realization of state policy, including scientific and technical;

coordination of activities of republican state bodies, other state bodies (organizations);

ensuring accomplishment of the international obligations assumed by the Republic of Belarus;

entering into Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus strategy of the treatment of radioactive waste;

other powers according to acts of the legislation;

1.2. Department on nuclear and radiation safety of the Ministry of Emergency Situations:

develops strategy of the treatment of radioactive waste;

will organize and coordinates scientific and methodical providing;

provides development of requirements to objects of storage (burial) of radioactive waste;

performs forming and maintaining the register of objects of storage (burial) radioactive waste;

predicts the expected amounts of formation of radioactive waste taking into account their actual education and transfer on objects of storage (burial) in previous years;

approves schemes of the treatment of radioactive waste;

will organize accounting of radioactive waste;

participates in preparation of offers on procedure and sources of financing of actions for the treatment of radioactive waste;

performs other powers according to acts of the legislation;

1.3. Department of Energy:

will organize creation and provides functioning of system of long-term storage and burial of radioactive waste, including by creation of specially authorized organization - the national operator according to the treatment of radioactive waste;

introduces offers on procedure and sources of financing of actions for the treatment of radioactive waste in Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
