About anti-doping activities in sport

This Law determines legal and organizational basis of implementation of anti-doping activities in Ukraine, powers of public authorities and local government bodies, obligations of the relevant organizations, institutions, the organizations and physical persons for the prevention of application and distribution of dope in sport.

Section I. General provisions

Article 1. Determination of terms

1. In this Law terms are used in such value:

1) anti-doping activities - the measures directed to the prevention and counteraction to use of dope in sport including, in particular, prevention of application and distribution of dope in sport, drug test and establishment of responsibility for violation of anti-doping rules, and also other types of activity determined by the World anti-doping code;

2) anti-doping organization - The World Anti-Doping Agency or the legal entity responsible for adoption of the rules directed to creation, implementation and accomplishment of any part of process of drug test.

Can treat such organizations: The International Olympic Committee, the International Paralympic Committee, other organizers of large sporting events which hold testing on the sporting events, the international federations and the national anti-doping organizations;

3) anti-doping rules - rules according to which anti-doping activities, including drug test are performed;

4) the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) - the independent organization coordinating fight against dope in sport;

5) the World anti-doping code - the act of the World Anti-Doping Agency stated in Annex 1 to the International convention about fight against dope in sport;

6) permission to therapeutic use - the permission provided by the anti-doping organization according to the International standard for therapeutic use which gives the chance to the athlete to use the prohibited substance or the prohibited method in the therapeutic purposes for treatment of the available and diagnosed medical condition;
