About modification of the Civil code of Ukraine concerning expansion of circle of objects of the civil laws

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides:

1. Bring in the Civil code of Ukraine (Sheets of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 2003, Art. No. No. 40-44, 356) the following changes:

Article 177 to state 1) in the following edition:

"Article 177. Types of objects of the civil laws

1. Objects of the civil laws are things, money, securities, digital things, property rights, works and services, results of intellectual, creative activities, information, and also other material and non-material benefits.

2. Objects of the civil laws can exist in material world and/or the digital circle that causes form of objects, features of acquisition, implementation and the termination of the civil laws and obligations concerning them";

Part the second Article 178 to state 2) in the following edition:

"2. Types of objects of the civil laws which stay in civil circulation is not allowed (the objects withdrawn from civil circulation) or stay of which in civil circulation it is allowed on special permission (objects, restrictedly transferable), and also types of objects of the civil laws which can belong only to certain participants of turnover are established by the law";

To add 3) with Article 179-1 of the following content:

"Article 179-1. Concept of digital thing

1. Digital thing is the benefit created and which is existing only in the digital circle and having property.

Digital thing are virtual assets, digital content and other benefits to which provisions of part one of this Article are applied.

2. Features of legal regime of digital things are determined by the law. Regulations of this Code on things are applied to digital things if other is not established by this Code, the law or does not follow from essence of digital thing".
