About modification of the Civil code of Ukraine concerning enhancement of procedure for opening and registration of inheritance

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine decides:

1. Bring in the Civil code of Ukraine (Sheets of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, 2003, Art. No. 40-44, 356) the following changes:

Article 1221 to state 1) in the following edition:

"Article 1221. Place of opening of inheritance

1. The place of opening of inheritance is the last residence of the testator.

2. If the residence of the testator is unknown, the place of opening of inheritance is the location of real estate or its main part, and in the absence of real estate - the location of the main part of personal estate.

3. If the testator took the last residence in the territory of foreign state, the place of opening of inheritance is determined according to the Law of Ukraine "About private international law";

2) in the Section "Final and Transitional Provisions":

"19. During action of the warlike situation in Ukraine imposed by the Presidential decree of Ukraine "About introduction of martial law in Ukraine" of February 24, 2022 No. 64/2022, the approved Law of Ukraine "About approval of the Presidential decree of Ukraine "About introduction of warlike situation in Ukraine" of February 24, 2022 No. 2102-IX, the course of limitation period determined by this Code stops on effective period of such condition";
