About hydrometeorological activities

This Law determines the general legal, economic, social and organizational principles of implementation of hydrometeorological activities in Ukraine, legal status of national hydrometeorological service and its workers.

Section I. General provisions

Article 1. Terms and determinations

In this Law terms are used in the following value:

hydrometeorological activities - the activities of national hydrometeorological service, other legal entities irrespective of patterns of ownership and physical persons directed to implementation of observations of hydroweather conditions, geophysical processes in the atmosphere, the analysis and generalization of the obtained data, active impacts on hydrometeorological processes, providing with hydrometeorological information, forecasts and warnings of the dangerous and spontaneous hydrometeorological phenomena of public authorities, local government bodies, population, and also hydrometeorological servicing of the interested legal entities and physical persons;

national hydrometeorological service - system of the state bodies, companies, organizations and organizations providing accomplishment of complex of works on carrying out observations, to collection, processing, transfer, storage and use of data in the field of hydrometeorology, climatology, atmosphere geophysics, and also basic observations of pollution of the surrounding environment and provision of the relevant information;

the state system of hydrometeorological observations - the complex multi-level observation information system intended for carrying out systematic observations of hydroweather conditions, condition of the atmosphere, pollution of the surrounding environment under the influence of natural and anthropogenous factors and providing consumers with information on their actual and expected condition;

hydrometeorological observations - tool measurements and visual assessment of hydroweather conditions and condition of the atmosphere;

specialized hydrometeorological observations - hydrometeorological and other observations which are made for needs of certain consumers;
