About use and protection of emblems and names of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in the Republic of Tajikistan

This Law determines procedure for use and protection of emblems and names of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, and also distinctive signals in the Republic of Tajikistan according to the international obligations of the Republic of Tajikistan following from the Geneva conventions on protection of the victims of war of August 12, 1949 and Additional protocols to them of June 8, 1977 and also Rules by use of emblems of red cross or red crescent by the national societies accepted HH-oy by the International conference of the Red Cross and Red Crescent in 1965 (with changes and amendments of 1991).

Article 1. The main terms used in this Law

For the purposes of this Law the following terms are used:

armed conflict - situations as they are determined in the Geneva conventions on protection of the victims of war of August 12, 1949 (further - the Geneva conventions) and in Additional protocols to them of June 8, 1977 (further - Additional protocols);

medical forming - the stationary or portable medical institutions and other civil or military forming created on permanent or temporary basis for search, picking up, transportation, establishment of the diagnosis or treatment of wounded and patients including first-aid treatment, and also for prevention of diseases;

medical personnel - persons designated on permanent or temporary basis for search, picking up, transportation, establishment of the diagnosis or treatment including first-aid treatment, wounded and patients, for prevention of diseases, and also for economic, material and other ensuring medical forming;

International movement of the Red Cross and Red Crescent - the movement including national societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federations of societies of the Red Cross and Red Crescent;

sanitary vehicles - air, land, sea and river means of transportation, both the military, and civil, permanent or temporary, intended only for transportation of wounded and patients, medical personnel, medical property and other medical purposes and being under control parties which is in armed conflict;
