The purpose of this Law is regulation of the relations in the field of environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment and strategic ecological assessment.
The legislation on environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment and strategic ecological assessment consists of this Law and other acts of the legislation.
If the international treaty of the Republic of Uzbekistan establishes other rules, than those which are stipulated by the legislation the Republic of Uzbekistan about environmental assessment, environmental impact assessment and strategic ecological assessment then are applied rules of the international treaty.
In this Law the following basic concepts are applied:
environment components - the earth, subsoil, the waters, plant and animal life and atmospheric air providing favorable conditions for existence in the environment;
impact on the environment - any effects of the planned and (or) planned or performed economic and other activity for the environment and ecological safety, including for health of the person, components of the environment and interrelation of these factors, and also influence of changes of these factors on social and economic conditions and objects of cultural heritage;
environmental impact assessment - the procedure directed to determination of property and level of impact on the environment, the possible ecological effects planned and (or) planned or the performed economic and other activity and on development of environmental measures and to rational use of natural resources;
