realizing responsibility for ecological safety of the people,

being convinced that the cooperation in the field of protection of the surrounding environment is mutually advantageous and promotes further development and strengthening of friendship between the people of both states,

in view of the experience accumulated in the field of the international nature protection cooperation

being guided by the domestic legislation of the states and the conventional principles and rules of international law,

considering that the solution of questions of minimization and overcoming effects of the Chernobyl catastrophic crash, and also informing on natural disasters, industrial accidents, other emergency situations and assistance conditions on their liquidation are regulated by special agreements,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

The parties will develop and strengthen mutually beneficial and equal cooperation in the field of protection of the surrounding environment, rational use and renewal of natural resources.

Article 2

The cooperation between the Parties is performed in the following main directions:

enhancement of the nonconsumptive legislation;

joint activities in the field of regulation, standardization, metrology and certification;

protection of the atmosphere from pollution;

forest conservation from the fires, harmful insects and diseases of the wood;

protection of the surrounding environment from pollution by pesticides and mineral fertilizers in case of their application, storage, transportation;
