About prohibition of reproductive cloning of the person
This Law imposes ban of reproductive cloning of the person in Ukraine proceeding from the principles of respect for the person, recognition of value of the personality, need of protection of human rights and freedoms and considering insufficient study of biological and social effects of cloning of the person.
In Ukraine the reproductive cloning of the person is forbidden. Operation of this Law does not extend to cloning of other organisms.
In this Law the stated below terms are used in the following value:
cloning of the person - creation of the person genetically identical to other living or died person, by transferring to the female gamete of kernel of somatic cell of the person left without kernel;
embryo of the person - germ of the person at development stage up to eight weeks.
Import to the territory of Ukraine and export from the territory of Ukraine of the cloned embryos of the person is forbidden.
Persons guilty of violation of this Law bear civil, administrative or criminal responsibility according to the laws of Ukraine.
1. This Law becomes effective from the date of its publication.
2. The laws and other regulatory legal acts adopted before entry into force of this Law are effective in the part which is not contradicting this Law.
3. To the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine within three months from the date of entry into force of this Law:
provide to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine offers on introduction of amendments to the laws of Ukraine, following from this Law;
bring the regulatory legal acts into accord with this Law;
adopt the regulatory legal acts necessary for implementation of this Law;
