About the Military ombudsman

This Law determines legal status, the main objectives, powers and organizational bases of activities of the Military ombudsman in case of ensuring compliance with the rights of the military personnel in connection with accomplishment of obligations of military service by them, reservists and persons liable for call-up during passing of charges by them, and also staff of the law enforcement agencies involved in direct participation in fighting.

Article 1. Military ombudsman

1. The military ombudsman is official through who the President of Ukraine according to article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine and articles 4 and 5 of the Law of Ukraine "About homeland security of Ukraine" exercises democratic civil control of the sector of safety and defense concerning ensuring compliance by bodies of military management (governing bodies), commanders (chiefs) of the rights of the military personnel in connection with accomplishment of obligations of military service by them, reservists and persons liable for call-up during passing of charges by them, members of voluntary forming of territorial communities in connection with their participation in preparation and accomplishment of tasks of territorial defense or direct participation in fighting, persons who on voluntary and confidential basis are involved in accomplishment of tasks of resistance movement in temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, and also staff of law enforcement agencies, involved in direct participation in fighting (further - persons to whom operation of this Law extends).
