About modification and amendments in the Law "About Personal Data Protection"

Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on December 4, 2025

Article 1. Declare invalid Item 8 of part 1 of article 3 of the Law of May 18, 2015 No. ZR-49 "About personal data protection" (further - the Law).

Article 2. In article 7 of the law:

To replace 1) regarding 2 words "single electronic" with the word "state";

2) to state part 4 in the following edition:

"4. Procedure for processing of personal data by means of information systems, and also procedure for safety of personal data during this process affirm the Government of the Republic of Armenia. The technical requirements and safety rules following from the specified procedure affirm the autonomous body provided by the Law "About Public Information.

Article 3. In article 19 of the Law:

1) parts 4, 5 and 9 to recognize invalid;

Part 6 to add 2) with the new offer of the following content: "Requirements to the material carriers of biometric personal data which are out of information systems and technologies of storage of such personal data are established by the autonomous body provided by the Law "About Public Information";

Part 8 to add 3) with the new offer of the following content: "Control over the implementation of requirements of part 2 of this Article for persons who are considered as service providers in value of the Law "About Cyber Security" and database managers in value of the Law "About Public Information" is performed by the autonomous body determined by the above-mentioned laws".

Article 4. In article 22 of the Law:

1) part 1 to recognize invalid;

2) to state part 3 in the following edition:

"3. Other bodies exercising supervision approve drafts of the legal acts providing processing of personal data, or the actions performed in the field of personal data protection with the authorized body provided by this Law in advance. The authorized body provided by this law reports about the conclusion in short time.".
