About the museums and museum case

This Law governs the public relations in the field of museum case, determines legal, economic, social basis of creation and activities of the museums of Ukraine and feature of scientific forming, studying, accounting, storage, protection and use of Museum fund of Ukraine, its legal status.

This Law extends to all types of the museums and reserves regarding their museumification, and also accounting, storage and use, protection, preservation, restoration of museum objects, museum collections and objects of museum value.

Section I. General provisions

Article 1. Main terms and their determinations

In this Law the stated below terms are used in such value:

assortment office (the room of samples of products) - the room at the companies in which unique collections of art products, scientific collections, other collections or separate samples of products having historical, art, scientific and technical value are stored;

storage - one of core activities of the museum concerning creation of material conditions and the legal basis in case of which safety of museum objects and museum collections is ensured;

konservvtion - implementation of complex of organizational, evidence-based actions concerning ensuring protection of museum objects and objects of museum value against further destructions, preserving their authenticity with the minimum intervention in their existing type;

cultural values - the objects of material and spiritual culture having art, historical, ethnographic and scientific value are also subject to preserving, reconstruction, protection which list is determined by the Law of Ukraine "About export, import and return of cultural values";

museumification - set of evidence-based actions concerning reduction of objects of cultural heritage to the condition suitable for excursion visit;

the museum - the research and cultural and educational institution created for studying, preserving, use and promoting of museum objects and museum collections with the scientific and educational purpose, involvement of citizens to properties of national and world cultural heritage;
