Section I. General provisions

Article 1. Determination of the main terms

In this Law the stated below terms are used in such value:

geodetic network - set of geodetic Items;

geodetic Item - the device and (or) construction for designation on the area of points of the land surface with the known coordinates and heights;

the state geodetic network - the network of geodetic Items providing distribution of coordinates on the territory of the state and being initial for creation of other geodetic networks;

remote sensing of Earth - process of data acquisition about the Earth's surface by method of aerial photography or in the way of observation and measurements from space;

cadastral surveys - complex of the works directed to studying of necessary topographical elements of the area concerning Items of geodetic network (in particular borders of the parcels of land with their names, quantitative and qualitative indexes) and drawing them on the tablet for creation of plans (cards) forming the basis for inventories;

cartographic monitoring - system of continuous observation of the land surface for the purpose of cartographic studying of condition of the area;

the land and cartographic deyatelnostnauchny, productive and management activity directed to determination of parameters of figure, gravitational field of Earth, coordinates of points of the land surface and their changes in time, creation and use of the state geodetic and gravimetric networks of Ukraine, network of permanent stations of satellite observation, topographic, thematic maps (plans), creation and updating of the cartographic basis for the state inventories, banks (bases) of geospatial data and geographic information systems;
