About modification and amendments in the Civil code of the Republic of Armenia

Accepted by National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia on March 25, 2026

Article 1. To state the text of Article 145 of the Civil code of the Republic of Armenia of May 5, 1998 (further - the code) in the following edition:

"1. The general rules concerning property are applied to animals if other is not provided by the law or other legal acts.

2. When implementing the rights concerning animals the address contradicting the principles of the law "About the Responsible Treatment of Animals" is forbidden.".

Article 2. To add article 183 of the Code with part 4 following of content:

"4. Provisions of this Article concerning domestic and vagrant, office, exhibition, sports or entertaining animals are effective in that measure in what they do not contradict provisions of the Law of the Republic of Armenia "About the responsible treatment of animals".".

Article 3. This law becomes effective for the tenth day after day of official publication.
