However for the decades preceding great independence, our courageous people were not free to use widely the native language, as well as were not free to dispose of the national wealth, the earth, water, the customs and traditions. Our Turkmen was exposed to infringements, misstatements, persecutions.
Slava Vsevyshnemu, as a result of coming to power of our dear Serdar Saparmurat Turkmenbasha who the heart made out sources of sincere melancholy of the Turkmen people, experienced intimate dreams and expectations of our ancestors, the forward-looking policy achieved great independence for the people. And for Turkmen there ascended the lucky star too. Thanks to immense efforts, fatherlike care of the highly respected President Saparmurat Turkmenbasha who removed the Turkmen people from servitude of dependence, salvaged the native language from disappearance fate, Turkmen became state. In the 13th article of the Main Law of our country it is declared that "state language of Turkmenistan is Turkmen".
