About scientific activities
This Law is directed to creating favorable conditions for implementation of scientific activities, strengthening of the state support of science as necessary condition of economic and social development of the Republic of Belarus, increase in intellectual and cultural level of her citizens, strengthening of the authority and independence of the state.
In this Law the following basic concepts and their determinations are applied:
scientific activities – the creative activities directed to receipt of new knowledge of the nature, the person, society, artificially created objects and to use of scientific knowledge for development of new methods of their application;
basic scientific research – the theoretical and (or) pilot studies directed to receipt of new knowledge of the main patterns of development of the nature, the person, society, artificially created objects. Basic scientific research can be oriented, that is directed to the solution of the scientific problems connected with practical applications;
applied scientific research – the researches directed to use of results of basic scientific research for achievement of the specific practical purposes;
approbation of results of scientific research – the type of scientific activities consisting in conducting check of results of scientific research for the purpose of establishment of their suitability for achievement of specific purposes;
training of scientists of the top skills – the type of scientific activities consisting in implementation of educational programs of the scientific oriented education;
certification of scientists of the top skills – the type of scientific activities including holding actions for award of academic degrees and to assignment of academic statuses;
