About the Border service
The Parliament adopts this organic law.
(1) the Border service is the central administrative authority which is carrying out the obligations and realizing state policy in the following areas:
a) supervision and control of frontier for the purpose of fight against the specific facts of cross-border crime, including illegal migration, ensuring interests of the Republic of Moldova on frontier according to the law;
b) protection of frontier of the Republic of Moldova according to the procedure, provided by the current legislation.
(2) the Border service realizes state policy and in other areas provided by the current legislation.
For the purpose of this law the following concepts are used in value:
competence zone - the area of the national territory consisting of border area, the territory of the airports and ports located within the country open for the international message, and the territory of the settlements located within border area in which the Border service performs the functions provided by the law;
management of border - supervision and the control of frontier exercised by the Border service;
control of frontier - control which is exercised at check points through frontier and in other established places where the omission through frontier, according to the current legislation and the agreements signed by the Republic of Moldova is resolved. Control of persons includes verification of identification documents and other documents for entrance, stays, employment and departure, and also control for the purpose of identification and the prevention of threats of homeland security and to public order of the Republic of Moldova. The vehicles and objects which are in ownership of persons crossing frontier are subject to similar control;
