About internal troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine

Article 1. Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine (further - internal troops) are a part of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine and are intended for protection and defense of important state objects which list is established by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, and also for participation in protection of public order and fight against crime.

Article 2. The main objectives of internal troops are:

protection and defense of important state objects, objects of material and military providing Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine;

maintenance of particular loads;

implementation of access control on objects which are protected;

convoy of arrested and convicts;

protection of persons accused during legal procedure;

prosecution and detention of arrested and the condemned persons running from custody;

participation in protection of public order and fight against crime;

participation in mitigation of consequences of emergency situations on objects which are protected;

protection of diplomatic representations and consular establishments of foreign states in the territory of Ukraine.

Use of internal troops for accomplishment of the tasks which are not provided by this Law is forbidden.

Article 3. Activities of internal troops are based on the principles of legality and humanity, respect for the personality, its rights and freedoms.

Article 4. The legal basis of activities of internal troops is the Constitution of Ukraine, this Law, resolutions of the Supreme Council of Ukraine, other legal acts of Ukraine, presidential decrees of Ukraine, the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, army regulations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
