This Law determines the legal basis, the principles, the main objectives and activities of the state security agencies of the Republic of Belarus *).

The state security agencies are component of system of ensuring national security of the Republic of Belarus and ensure within the powers conferred to them safety of the personality, societies and the states from internal and external threats.
Management of activities of the state security agencies is performed the President of the Republic of Belarus and Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus within the powers delegated to it by the President of the Republic of Belarus.
The state security agencies form single centralized system which enter:
Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus;
managements of Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus on areas (territorial authorities);
management of military counterintelligence of Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus.
Managements of Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus on areas and management of military counterintelligence of Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus are under supervision of Committee for State Security of the Republic of Belarus.
The state security agencies have in the subordination organizations of education, the organization of health care, military units, divisions of special purpose and other divisions.
