attaching importance to international cooperation in fight against crime,

considering international conventions and decisions of the United Nations in the field of crime prevention and implementation of criminal justice,

in view of regulations of the Contract between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Lithuania on legal assistance and legal relations on civil, family and criminal cases of October 20, 1992,

agreed as follows:

Article 1. Sphere and subjects of application of the Agreement

1. The parties, being guided by the legislation and the international obligations of the states, through the central competent organizations of the states of the Parties within their powers will cooperate in fight against crime according to provisions of this agreement.

2. This agreement does not raise the questions of rendering legal assistance on criminal cases and issues.

3. For the purposes of this agreement the central competent organizations of the states of the Parties are:

for the Republic of Belarus - the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prosecutor's office, Committee for State Security, the State committee of border troops, the State Customs Committee, Department of financial investigations of the State Control Committee;
