The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic on the international combined freight transportation

of October 17, 2006

The government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic which are hereinafter referred to as with Contracting Parties

being guided by desire to facilitate implementation of international carriages of loads,

in view of that effective international freight transportation is important condition for development of trade relations,

recognizing that for the purpose of creation of the alternatives for automobile cargo transportation accepted in economic, social and ecological aspects, and also taking into account environmental protection development of modern transport system of rail and water transport is necessary,

convinced that the system of combined transports of loads has the huge potential facilitating implementation of the international cargo transportation

referring to the international agreements regulating international carriages of loads

agreed as follows:

Article 1. Scope

1. This agreement is applied in the field of the international combined transports of loads between the states of the Contracting Parties and transit across their territories performed by the carriers registered in the territory of the state of one of Contracting Parties with the points of departure or appointments to the territories of their state with use of partially railway, water and automobile modes of transport.

2. This agreement does not affect the rights and obligations following from other international agreements which participants are Contracting Parties.

Article 2. Determinations

For the purposes of this agreement the terms below have the following value:

1. Intermodal transport of loads - consecutive transportation of goods by two or more modes of transport in the same unit load or the vehicle without overload of the load when changing mode of transport.

2. The international combined transport gruzovintermodalny transportation of goods, it is preferential with use of rail or water transport, at the same time with the shortest initial or final stages of road haulage.
