Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Purposes and tasks of the legislation on publishing

The law of the Republic of Tajikistan on publishing according to the Constitution of the Republic of Tajikistan guarantees to all citizens of the Republic of Tajikistan, public associations, organizations, the organizations, the companies and state governing bodies the right to publishing implementation.

This Law governs the relations between publishers, manufacturers, distributors and consumers of printed materials. The state, public, cooperative organizations, other associations of citizens and citizens can enter the specified relations.

Article 2. Publishing

According to this Law:

the publishing house is understood as activities for creation of publishing house and the printing companies, preparation, production and release of printed materials;

as printed materials it is understood the editions intended for consumers: books, brochures, albums, posters, booklets, cards and other products of printing production irrespective of circulation and method of their production;

the publisher is understood as publishing house, other company (entrepreneur) performing preparation and release of printed materials, and also the legal entity or the citizen equated to the publisher for whom activities for preparation and release of printed materials are not the main or is not the main source of the income;
