The government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Government of the Azerbaijan Republic which are hereinafter referred to as by the Parties, understanding importance of sci-tech cooperation as component of all complex of the bilateral relations, wishing to develop and strengthen cooperation between two countries in the field of science, the equipment and technologies on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual advantage, considering historically developed scientific bonds between Tajikistan and Azerbaijan, in view of that such cooperation will promote strengthening of friendship between the countries, agreed as follows:
The purpose of this agreement is development of mutually beneficial and effective scientific cooperation, establishment of direct contacts between scientific institutions and certain scientists on the most perspective researches and common scientific problems of development of science, the equipment and technologies of both countries. The parties according to the national legal system will create favorable conditions for the development of the sci-tech cooperation which is of mutual interest and promoting strengthening of ties in the field of science, the equipment and technologies on the basis of the principles of equality and mutual advantage.
According to Article 1 of this agreement of the Party will promote establishment of direct scientific and technical connections and the conclusion of agreements and contracts between the relevant research establishments.
Considering the special importance of innovations and technical progress for development of science and economy of both countries, the Parties will develop cooperation in the field of exact, natural, humanitarian, social and technical science, in every possible way to expand and stimulate cooperation in the field of applied researches and new technologies, preparation of scientific personnel, protection of industrial and intellectual property.
