The concept of development of water transport in the Republic of Moldova determines the main criteria of its development, and also the purpose and methods of regulation in this sphere taking into account development of the country and its aspiration to join the European Union.
1. The inland water transport in the Republic of Moldova for the last two decades underwent number of restructurings. Armed conflict in the east of the country caused crisis in industry of water transport. Primary ports (The Bender river port, Rybnitsky river port) and significant amount of courts and watercrafts passed under jurisdiction of the Dnestr mode, and afterwards their most part was sold or handed over on scrap metal. The companies of this sphere in the Republic of Moldova made best efforts for preserving the remained equipment.
