About ensuring food security
This Law governs the relations in the field of ensuring food security of the Republic of Armenia, and also determines the main directions of state policy by regulation of this sphere.
The main directions of state policy in the field of ensuring food security are:
a) stimulation of local production vital food staples and foodstuff (further - foodstuff);
b) providing qualitative indexes of foodstuff in compliance with the regulations established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia;
c) implementation of the actions directed to improvement of macroeconomic condition of the Republic of Armenia, and increase on this basis of level of purchasing power of the population;
d) accumulating of food inventories in the State reserve of the Republic of Armenia and their effective use;
e) implementation of the actions directed to regulation of the food market;
e) creation of balance of local production of the foodstuff and import included in structure of the minimum food basket, and ensuring collection and information analysis about it.
The relations on ensuring food security of the Republic of Armenia are governed by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, this Law, other laws and legal acts of the Republic of Armenia.
If international treaties of the Republic of Armenia provide other regulations than provided by this Law, then regulations of international treaties are effective.
The basic concepts used in this Law are:
ensuring food security of the state - such state of the economy of the state which provides food independence of the country and guarantees physical and economic availability to the population of the foodstuff meeting health standards;
