About breeding livestock production

This Law establishes legal and economic basis of the organization and management of breeding case in livestock production of the Azerbaijan Republic, governs the relations in this sphere.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

1.0. The basic concepts used in this Law have the following values:

1.0.1. breeding livestock production - the field of activity connected with cultivation, reproduction, content and use of farm animals with the breeding purpose;

1.0.2. breeding case - the organizational and economic complex actions performed for the purpose of increase in genetic potential of farm animals, enhancement of the existing species and breeds of animals and creation of new breeds, increase in number of breeding animals;

1.0.3. breeding animal - the highly productive and suitable for reproduction and improving thoroughbred animal with the known origin registered in the state breeding book with issue of the breeding passport (certificate);

1.0.4. breeds of animals - group of the animals with identical origin and selection structure differing from others on the features of morphological and economic value;

1.0.5. breeding resource (products, materials) - breeding animals, their seeds, eggs, larvae, germs and embryos;

1.0.6. breeding roots of thoroughbred animals - group of the perfect improving breeding animals in breeding farms of thoroughbred animals with valuable genotype and high performance;

1.0.7. appraisal of quality of breeding animal - assessment of animals on complex signs for the purpose of determination of breeding qualities and purpose;

1.0.8. thoroughbred cultivation of breeding animals - animal husbandry of one breed for the purpose of preserving, enhancement and transfer of positive features by inheritance;

1.0.9. farms of breeding livestock production - the legal entities and physical persons which are engaged in cultivation and content of breeding animals, enhancement of their performance and breeding qualities, sale, testing, and also artificial insemination and transplantation of embryos of animals;
