About control and prevention of tuberculosis

Based on Item r) parts (3) article 72 of the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova the Parliament adopts this organic law.

Chapter I. Basic provisions

Article 1. Sphere of regulation and legal basis

(1) This law establishes the legal basis of realization of state policy in the field of control and prevention of tuberculosis for the purpose of protection of health of citizens and ensuring sanitary and epidemiologic wellbeing of the population.

(2) the Legal basis of control and prevention of tuberculosis is constituted by the Constitution of the Republic of Moldova, this law, other regulations, and also international agreements, one of the parties of which is the Republic of Moldova.

(3) This law, other existing regulations cannot limit the rights of citizens to protection against tuberculosis and rendering antituberculous medical care.

(4) If international agreements, one of the parties of which is the Republic of Moldova, establish other regulations than containing in this law, regulations of international agreements are applied.

Article 2. Application of this law

(1) This law extends to citizens of the Republic of Moldova to whom antituberculous medical care, and on physical persons and legal entity which provide antituberculous medical care in the territory of the Republic of Moldova is provided.

(2) Foreign citizens and stateless persons use antituberculous medical care according to this law and other existing regulations.

Article 3. Basic concepts

For the purpose of this law the following basic concepts are used:

tuberculosis - the specific socially caused infectious disease with preferential damage of lungs caused by tubercular mycobacterium (Koch's stick) which is characterized by aggravations, recurrence and periodic remission;
