Article 1. Bases of the electoral system

According to the Constitution of Turkmenistan and this Law elections of deputies of Majlis (Parliament) are performed by citizens of Turkmenistan on the basis of general, equal and direct suffrage in case of secret vote and on the alternative beginnings.
