The State Tax Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan and Customs Department of the Republic Georgia which are hereinafter referred to as with the Parties

noting important role of competent services of both states in protection of cultural heritage,

aiming to strengthen cooperation between these services and by that to strengthen fight against illegal export and import of cultural values,

agreed as follows:

Article 1

In this agreement are understood:

under "cultural values" - the objects determined by the laws and other regulations of the states of the Parties;

under "illegal transportation" - export, transit and import of such values which are made in defiance of the laws and other regulations of the states of the Parties;

under "return of cultural values" - the actual transfer of export to the state by the state of import or transit of the cultural values detained in connection with their illegal transportation.

Article 2

The parties, following the laws and rules existing in their states will cooperate within this agreement for the purpose of detention illegally of the taken cultural values and their transfer to other Party.

Article 3

The party which found illegally the taken cultural values will detain such cultural values and in perhaps short time to inform on it other Party.

Information shall include perhaps more complete description of detainees of cultural values, this about persons participating in their illegal transportation and also about the vehicles, loads and mailings used for this purpose. As far as possible, the Parties will accompany information with photos of the detained cultural values and copies of the documents concerning the fact of illegal transportation of such values.

Article 4

The parties will take measures providing transfer illegally of the taken cultural values.
