Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Legislation on patronage and sponsorship

1. The legislation on patronage and sponsorship is based on relevant provisions of the constitution, the civil code, the legislation on culture, other laws and other regulatory legal acts of the state which adopted this Law.

2. The conventional principles and rules of international law, the international agreements in the field of patronage and sponsorship are component of system of law of the state.

If the international treaty establishes other rules, than those which are provided by this Law then are applied rules of the international treaty.

Article 2. The basic concepts applied in this Law

Charity - implementation by physical persons or legal entities of voluntary activities on disinterested (non-paid or on favorable terms) to transfer to citizens or legal entities of property, including money, disinterested performance of works, provision of services, rendering other support.

Philanthropists - persons performing charitable gifts in the form of disinterested (non-paid or on favorable terms) transfer into the ownership of property, including money and (or) intellectual property items, investment with right of possession, use and the order any objects of the property right, performance of works, provision of services.

The patron - the physical person or legal entity donating means (financial, material) for preserving and development of cultural property of the state in the forms determined by the national legal system.
