This Law governs legal relations in the field of completing, accounting, storage, use of Archive fund of the Republic of Armenia and other archive documents (irrespective of the property right to them), and also the legal relations connected with archiving.
1. The legislation of the Republic of Armenia on archiving consists of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, the Law of the Republic of Armenia "About bases of the legislation on culture", this Law, other laws and legal acts of the Republic of Armenia and international treaties of the Republic of Armenia.
2. If international treaties of the Republic of Armenia establish other regulations, than those which are provided by this Law then are applied regulations of international treaties.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
1) archiving - activities of state bodies and local government bodies, legal entities and physical persons in the field of completing, accounting, storages and uses of documents of Archive fund of the Republic of Armenia and other archive documents;
1. 1) the document - the data which are written down on the material carrier with details which allow to identify it;
2) the archive document - the material carrier with information fixed on it with the details allowing to identify it which is subject to storage owing to the cultural and historical and documentary importance for the state and society of these of the carrier and information;
3) other archive documents - the archive documents which are not part of Archive fund of the Republic of Armenia which storage is performed in the terms established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia;
