About fish breeding

This Law determines the legal basis of the organization and management of fish breeding, including aquaculture, increase in fishes and other water bioresources, their use and protection in the Azerbaijan Republic.

Chapter I. General provisions

Article 1. Main terms and concepts

The terms and concepts used in this Law reflect the following values:

- fish breeding - system of biological, biotechnical, technological and organizational measures which are directed to increase, cultivation, reproduction, use, protection and improvement of useful qualities of fishes and other water bioresources on water objects of fish breeding;

- water objects of fish breeding - the natural or artificial water basins used for increase, cultivation, reproduction, catch, accumulating of fishes and other water bioresources and for aquaculture;

- fishes and other water bioresources - the absolute mass of the living in water objects of fish breeding, fishes, used or suitable for use, other water animals and plants of all age groupes, their products, including caviar and whitebaits, milts;

- fish farming - activities for artificial increase, cultivation and reproduction of fishes and other water bioresources on water objects of fish breeding;

- cultivation of fish - incubation of the impregnated caviar of fish, feeding and cultivation of whitebaits and other water bioresources in artificial water objects of fish breeding;

- reproduction of fishes and other water bioresources - the measures directed to prevention of depletion of natural resources of fishes and other water bioresources in water objects of fish breeding;

- aquaculture - activities for increase, cultivation, content and recreation of fishes and other water bioresources, including rare and endangered species in water objects of fish breeding for the purpose of reproduction and receipt of commodity product;

- fish conservation - supervision of protection of fishes and other water bioresources in natural water objects of fish breeding, regulation of their catch, reproduction and meliorative works in fish-breeding economy;
