About geodesy and cartography
This Law determines the legal basis of the organization and management of geodetic, topographical and cartographic works in the Azerbaijan Republic and developments, use and protection of scientific and technical products, materials and information (further - materials and information) which are result of the specified works.
The terms and concepts used in this Law express the following values:
geodesy - determination of form, the sizes, gravitational field of Earth, coordinates and absolute height of objects on the land surface, their dynamic change depending on time;
cartography - studying, creation and use of graphical representation of the land surface;
topography - determination of interposition of the land surface and its separate points;
gravitation measurements - studying of gravity in different points of Earth;
the state geodetic and cartographic fund of the Azerbaijan Republic - meeting of the materials and information created as a result of geodetic and cartographic activities and kept for use; geodetic and cartographic equipment and devices of special
appointments - the geodetic equipment of high precision used for development of the data carriers which are the state secret.
The legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic on geodesy and cartography consists of this Law and other regulatory legal acts adopted according to it.
In case of discrepancy of the rules established by international treaties of the Azerbaijan Republic on the geodesy and cartography, rules provided in this Law rules of international treaties are applied.
