About transplantation of human bodies and (or) fabrics
This Law, based on modern scientific achievements and medical experience, governs the relations connected with transplantation (change) of human bodies and (or) fabrics.
The basic concepts used in this Law express the following values:
transplantation of human bodies and (or) fabrics (further transplantation) - replacement by surgery for the purpose of rescuing of life and recovery of health of the person of the body which is absent at the patient or damaged and (or) fabrics by body and (or) tissues of the donor or corpse of the person;
human body and (or) fabrics - the anatomic structural unit which is not determining characteristics of the personality;
the donor - person who is voluntarily providing the body and (or) fabrics for change to sick persons;
the recipient - person to whom in the medical purposes the body and (or) fabrics changes.
Heart, lungs (warm and pulmonary complex), kidneys, liver, pancreas and their segments, marrow, cornea of eye and other bodies and (or) fabrics which list is established by relevant organ of the executive authority can be objects of transplantation.
This Law does not extend to reproductive means and bodies used for this purpose, their parts and (or) fabric (ova, sperm, ovaries, testicles or embryo), and also blood and its components.
The legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic on transplantation consists of this Law, other regulatory legal acts and interstate agreements supported by the Azerbaijan Republic.
