About quarantine of plants

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

- quarantine - official detention in the closed quarantine conditions of quarantine materials for observations and researches or for the subsequent examination, the analysis or processing;

- plants - live plants and their parts, including seeds and genetic material;

- quarantine of plants - the activities directed to prevention of introduction and/or distribution of quarantine harmful organisms or to ensuring official fight against them;

- products of plant origin - not processed material of plant origin (including grain), and also the processed products which by the nature or method of the conversion can create risk of introduction and distribution of quarantine harmful organisms;

- quarantine material - any plant, vegetable product, the place of warehousing, packaging, the vehicle, container, the soil and any other organism, object or material capable to serve as the place of the shelter of harmful organisms or to promote their distribution concerning which acceptance of phytosanitary measures is necessary especially when case concerns international carriages;

- fumigation - processing by the chemical reaching these goods completely or generally in gaseous state;

- decontamination - removal of toxic agents;
