The government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Belarus which are hereinafter referred to as by the Parties
being guided by the conventional principles and rules of international law,
aiming to develop friendly good-neighbourhood and mutually beneficial cooperation on boundary questions for the benefit of safety of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus,
agreed as follows:
The parties taking into account mutual interests perform cooperation on boundary questions.
In case of need of the organization of protection of frontier between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus the Parties will perform adequate measures common efforts, providing mutual interests.
The parties, based on the Agreement on cooperation of gosudarstvuchastnik of the Commonwealth of Independent States on providing the situation of stability on their external borders signed in Bishkek on October 9, 1992 will perform proper measures on safety of each other on the external borders.
If necessary, by mutual consent of the Parties, for the purpose of coordination of efforts on protection of frontiers expert groups (group of interaction) at the Federal Border Service - the Main command of Border troops of the Russian Federation and Head department of Border troops are created under Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus.
The parties within year from the date of the signature of this agreement will take measures for approval and rapprochement national legislative and the regulations regulating the mode and protection of frontiers of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus and if necessary will leave with initiative about entering of the corresponding amendments into the national legal system.
