The gas-transport system of Ukraine consists of gas pipelines of different function and performance slowness of 38,2 of one thousand kilometers, 73 compressor stations, over 1600 gas distribution stations, 13 underground gas storages and infrastructure facilities which provide functioning of system.
Profitable geographical arrangement of Ukraine on the main ways of transportation of natural gas from gas regions of Russia and Central Asia to the countries of Europe which are his main consumers technical and economic benefits of development of the available gas-transport system give to Ukraine the potential chance to play important role in the international gas transportation system and to promote acceleration of its integration into the European and world economic space.
The principles of realization of state policy concerning functioning of gas-transport system of Ukraine, its maintenance in due technical condition and ensuring reliability of functioning, are determined by the Laws of Ukraine "About pipeline transport" and "About petro and gas", the National program "Oil and Gas of Ukraine till 2010" approved by the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of June 21, 2001 N 665 (The Official Bulletin of Ukraine, 2001, N 25 Art. 1114), the Energy strategy of Ukraine for the period till 2030 approved by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine of March 15, 2006 N 145.
