About the state statistics

This Law governs legal relations in the field of statistical activities, determines tasks, the rights and obligations of bodies of the state statistics, and also procedure for the organization of collection, processing, use, distribution and protection of official statistical data and maintaining the official statistical recording in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Chapter 1. General provisions

Article 1. Purpose and coverage of this Law

1. This Law determines the legal basis and the regulating mechanisms of realization of single state policy in the field of the official statistical recording and distribution of data of the state statistics providing requirements of the state and society for complete, reliable, scientifically based and timely statistical information about social, economic, demographic, ecological and other public processes in the Republic of Tajikistan.

2. Operation of this Law extends to all statistical units and subjects of the official statistical recording performing the activities in the territory of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Article 2. Basic concepts

In this Law the following basic concepts are used:

- statistics - complex of quantitative data about set of the phenomena or processes;

- the state statistics - the single state statistical system of information created by bodies of the state statistics;

- official statistics - the collected and processed data of statistical units showing characteristics of the phenomena in proper set;

- the state statistical system - the main component of the state information system representing set of primary, aggregative and administrative statistical data;
