About export and import of cultural values

This Law governs the relations arising when exporting and importing cultural values including prevention of illegal export or illegal import of cultural values and protection of the property rights concerning these values, task of protection of cultural heritage of the Republic of Armenia, the international cultural cooperation, cultural communication of the people of the Republic of Armenia and other states, establishes the rights and obligations of physical persons and legal entities, and also competence of state bodies of this sphere.
The legislation of the Republic of Armenia on export and import of cultural values is regulated by the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia, this Law, international treaties, other laws and legal acts of the Republic of Armenia.
If international treaties of the Republic of Armenia establish other regulations, than those which are provided by this Law then are effective regulations of international treaties.
In this Law the following basic concepts are used:
cultural heritage - the cultural values and objects of cultural appointment which are considered as waste product of human society;
cultural values - the objects and works which are considered as waste product of human society which irrespective of time of creation have important archaeological, ethnographic, historical, religious, art, scientific value;
objects of cultural appointment - the objects which are considered as waste product of human society including objects of serial or mass production, and also the work which irrespective of time of creation are not of cultural value;
