The Chernobyl accident caused on April 26, 1986 the largest in terms of the scope of radioactive pollution of the biosphere environmental disaster, became the public disaster which affected destinies of millions of people living in the huge territories.

There were new social and economic conditions in areas where zones of the increased radioactive pollution owing to accident, special provision for the citizens who were taking part in mitigation of consequences of the Chernobyl accident were created.

Section 1 General provisions

Article 1. Purposes and tasks of the Law

This Law is directed to protection of the rights and interests of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who were injured owing to the Chernobyl catastrophic crash, participating in liquidation of the Chernobyl accident and its effects.

Article 2. The legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic on social protection of the citizens who were injured owing to the Chernobyl catastrophic crash

The relations connected with social protection of the citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic who were injured owing to the Chernobyl catastrophic crash are regulated by this Law and other regulatory legal acts.

Article 3. The rights of the citizens who were injured owing to the Chernobyl catastrophic crash to compensation of damage, receipt of social guarantees and compensations

Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic have the right to social guarantees and monetary compensations, privileges for the damage caused to their health owing to catastrophic crash on the Chernobyl NPP, and also for risk of radiation damage owing to accommodation and work in the territory which underwent to the radioactive pollution exceeding admissible levels as a result of the specified catastrophic crash.
