About geodetic and cartographic activities
This Law determines the legal basis of activities in the field of geodesy and cartography in Turkmenistan and is directed to creation of conditions for requirements satisfaction of the state, legal entities and physical persons in geodetic and cartographic products.
Geodetic and cartographic activities are the productive, technical, scientific activity connected with carrying out geodetic and cartographic works, creation of geodetic and cartographic products.
The legislation of Turkmenistan on geodesy and cartography consists of this Law and other regulatory legal acts of Turkmenistan regulating questions of implementation of geodetic and cartographic activities.
If international treaties of Turkmenistan provide other provisions than containing in this Law, then regulations of international treaties are applied.
This Law extends to the state bodies regulating geodetic and cartographic activities, legal entities and physical persons according to the competence, including foreign, being customers or contractors of geodetic and cartographic works or holders of geodetic and cartographic materials and (or) data, and also selling geodetic and cartographic products.
Objects of geodetic and cartographic activities are:
land and surface of the water in the territory of Turkmenistan, in other territories determined by international treaties of Turkmenistan and also geographical objects on them;
space, including natural and artificial celestial bodies.
